This day marks the Centenary of Bramley man, Fred McNess's heroism that saw him awarded the Victoria Cross, near Ginchy, during the Battle of The Somme. On Friday, 11th November, our Armistice Day Service will be led by Reverend Richard Coutts of St.Thomas's, Stanningley. This Service will see the unveiling and dedication of our two new plaques, which carry the names of 236 fallen from Bramley, Rodley and Stanningley, making a total of 741 names on our Memorial. The dedication of the new Standard will take place at Yarnbury Rugby Union Club and be marked by a game between the Royal Artillery and the Blues and Royals. We shall have a stall at this dedication.
As part of the 240th Commemoration of the founding of Bramley Baptist Church, Ian Johnstone of the War and Remembered Graves team will host a tour on April 22nd followed by a talk from the Church on its history.
