SUMMARY:80th. Commemoration of VJ Day August 2025 beginning at 11.40 am
DESCRIPTION:Eighty years ago\, on 15th. August 1945\, all hostilities of the Second World War were brought to an end by the surrender of Emperor Hirohito of Japan.  At the Bramley War Memorial we will remember and honour the many\, often overlooked soldiers from England\, its Commonwealth and Empire who fought bravely for justice in the Far East. Although few of the survivers may still be alive to join us on the day\, Bramley will remember what was done by them and those who did not return to make the world a better place for those of us living today. \nOur remembrance for all those who suffered and died in the Far East Campaign during the Second World War will include an act of silence\, prayers for Peace for all who wish to join in and the speech\, given by His Majesty King George VI to the Nation and Commonwealth on VJ 1945 will be read. \nThe event will begin around 11.40 am leading to a period of silence at 12.00 noon to match the national Act of Remembrance and end with an act of commitment to Peace. \nAll are welcome to come along on the day.
